Tiger released from vet ward again

A few days ago we decided to send him back to the clinic after just being discharged 2 days earlier. He was doing fine on the first day back at home, but on the next day he started to make load groaning sound and couldn’t take a piss at all. His tummy looked a little bigger – must be the bladder. Poor thing was literally laying on its back while we figure out what the problem & solution would be based on our recent consultation.

On the phone, the doctor advised us to send Tiger back to the clinic. 3 days and 2 visiting sessions later, there he is – half-drugged & happily prancing around in the little cage when he got a incling that it’s time to go home (I swore he must have seen his mobile cage which we brought along, hence the excitement!). Doctor showed us a small bottle of urine sample with some fine white powderish debris at the bottom. He said all that crap came out from his bladder after pumping some solution into Tiger’s bladder to break these ‘stones’ which has been blocking the exit. Believe me, we were shocked too.

So, now the fat cat is back at home and laying on our computer desk trying to act useful by being a stationary 6 Kg paper-weight.

Tiger back to being a paper-weight

For your information, sometimes when the desk is too cluttered or when we need more space on the table, Tiger would be so considerate by carrying himself off the table (together with all his ‘excess bagguage’) and automatically convert himself to a 6 Kg door-stopper! :-)

Tiger released from vet ward

We went to the vet again this morning. Missy needs to get dewormed – she has tape worms crawling out from her anus (aka asshole)! The doctor shoved a panadol-sized pill down her throat and that was it: RM12 gone. He even recommended we send her back 3 months later for another con session.

Missy acting cute

Anyway, we pick-up Tiger, bought a new set of scratching pad with the fluffy-thing-on-a-long-spring attached to it just to stop Tiger from ‘merajuk’ (pouting) too much.

All in all, it costs RM226 just to get the cats checked-up & medicated, a bag of colorful pills, a bag of prescribed diet cat food, and a scratching pad. Someone should design some form of insurance for pets.
If you know of any, please let me know. *grumble* *grumble*

Tiger admitted to vet ward

Our home feels empty without Tiger (aka fat cat). He had to be warded because he developed some kind of urinary tract problem with his kukuciau. :-) Strains a lot when he tries to make a pass in the litterbox,

and even worse – he resolved to try taking a piss everywhere in the house instead.

Tiger taking a piss

I believe it is a psychological thing with pets because they might think it is the litterbox which is causing the problem. The vet doctor suggested that we leave him there for a night to allow them to get a sample of his urine to check for crystals. What you don’t know is, Tiger has got this problem for about 2 weeks now. During the first week, we were told to get the freshest urine sample by ourselves and store it in the fridge before sending the bottle over for analysis. We did exactly that (not to mention putting extreamly close to the food in our mini-bar fridge!), and by the next day(s)–forgot how long we’ve kept it in there :-p –the doc said it’s contaminated and have to re-do it again! Gosh, talk about hygenic awareness. Anyway, that’s why it is best leave poor Tiger with them for a night.
